With the water crisis at epic proportions, use of native plantings just
makes sense. Why is this? Because native plants need only a
fraction of the water that conventional plants need. Native plants
grew here long before the modern eclectic gardens of today.
How important are native plants? Plants are the cornerstone of
biological diversity. Native plants do the best job of providing
food and shelter for native wild animals. Native plants are used in
the development of new foods, medicines and industrial products.
Enviroscape has taken the lead in promoting native plants in the
South Bay for over two decades. Enviroscape helped install the
irrigation and plantings at the Manhattan Beach Botanical Garden (MBBG).
The MBBG is California’s only native coastal garden. If you want to
see a real marvel of diversity in native plant culture, you must see
this garden. The MBBG has been the inspiration for some of
Enviroscapes Award Winning California Friendly gardens, which are
gardens that have demonstrated wise use of water conservation
principles. To see the MBBG’s award winning garden and their
pondless waterfall (both installed by Enviroscape), please click
